Talk about change! Snowboarding is ready for a shakedown son, and in year 11 we’re bringin’ it. Snowboarding is more than a way to pass time in the winter, it’s what we dream of the rest of the year, it has founded lifetime bonds amongst strangers and turned them into our brothers and sisters, it is literally what has ended love amongst those that don’t understand our passion and found us in the company of others that share it. Throughout our collective history at Smokin’ we have desired one simple thing, to shoot it straight from the hip, no “filler”, we rely on our products to do the talking for us. Snowboards are vessels for our creativity and love for the wintry mountains, that said we choose to make them our self not in some country half a million miles away. Not only do we insist on making our own boards, but we choose to make them in what we think is every shred doggies dream location, Lake Tahoe. From the base of the finest and most diverse mountain terrain on the planet we design and build the best shred sticks in the universe (as far as we know). No investors or corporate thugs, no marketing agency, no massive pro contracts, we give you exactly what we desire most, the best shred from the most dedicated shredders. We raise our bottles to our heroes, our friends and partners, the people that support us as team riders and staff. This is family. From barbeques and backyard sessions, epic pow days, terrain park shredathons, midnight urban assaults, and competition underdogging we rule our domain. Too many companies are selling nothing but BS, relying on image, pros, and ads to catch your attention and thus your hard earned dollars. Increasing over seas manufacturing costs as well as lean budgets being handed down from the corporate wigs upstairs are leaving most companies struggling for market share. Cutting production corners and getting boards made anywhere they can most don’t realize the faults of their actions because nobody holds them accountable. Take a long look at your favorite brand, who owns them? Where are their boards made? Who’s driving this bus? What is their plan for snowboarding? Usually the answers are disturbing. Think about it, were not trying to exploit our favorite thing in the world for profit, were certainly not getting rich off this, and our plan for snowboarding is to simply keep it on the mountains and not in some man made box in the future. New renewable materials in our boards, recycled sidewalls, and naturally fallen trees are just some of the very non toxic ingredients found in our line for 08/09. We have a responsibility to our shred community to bring to the table a no shit brand that is changing snowboarding from the way it is to the way it should be. -Smokin Jay |
