What is DIRT Rocker?

DIRT Rocker  is Smokin’s new rockered board technology for 09/10.  it consists of two 5mm progressive rocker zones which begin just outside the bindings to the end of the effective edge. The area of the board underfoot is completely flat.  The zero camber design promotes stability under foot, while the rockered tip and tail allows for a looser, more playful feel.

We know what you’re thinking, “wow, another rockered board technology”.  Before you go screaming bandwagon, don’t forget the unique characteristic Smokin boards share with our fruity friends to the north: Magne Traction.  While the industry has followed Mervin’s success and turned up their noses this year, we stand behind our wiggly edge compadres in the belief that if your rockered board doesn’t have Magne Traction you might as well shred an old lunch tray from the resort cafeteria.

After rigorous testing, we decided to release our DIRT rocker boards only with Magne Traction, because it works! The MTX technology allows for improved turn initiation and increased edge hold even with the decrease in effective edge created by rockers.  Because rockered boards are pre curved, they create less resistance in a turn and take less energy to engage. While the MTX transfers energy underfoot, the rocker decreases pressure on your tip and tail, which helps prevent hang ups and edge catches. DIRT rocker also allows your board to naturally plane upward in powder. Bottom line, DIRT Rockers have more fun everywhere!
